The name of this wine is a play on the Portuguese word “paixão” meaning passion, but is instead written with the words “pai” meaning father and “chão” meaning earth. While this might seem to be a playful name for the wine it actually encapsulates the idea behind its creation. The wine is only made in exceptional vintages when the conditions are perfect in the vineyards for creating a wine that is a memorable and elegant expression of the unique terroir of the land from which the wine comes. The bottle bears the portrait of the founder of the winery and speaks to his passion for his home and preserving and sharing the environment from which he, and his wines, sprung.
